Free flight…it creates a strong link between pilots and villagers.

In this village, poised on the face of a cliff and with weather conditions that are perfect for anybody who wants to reach out and touch a cloud, free flight is a culture that everybody is caught up in and the Icarus Cup develops a dynamic that brings them together in an excitement that lasts for one whole week. And it doesn’t matter whether young or old, champion or rank amateur. The seasons determine the rhythm of life at Saint Hilaire, but just before Autumn there is a pause when the Icarus Cup is held.

It’s an international event and village hearts beat a little faster. So, here, free flight is deeply rooted in the lives of the people; a true linking of pilots and spectators.

This film will witness and describe this fervor that comes to the Petites Roches plateau… and in the sky !

A film featuring thirty pilot and a whole village of “flyers” !

Both a warm depiction of the Saint Hilaire children caught up in the passion of flying and a documentary account of events on the plateau… There are about thirty pilots ranging in age from 25 to 55. The Blues Team is composed of video professionals, including :

Nicolas Assael (www.face-est.fr), Christophe Tong-Viêt, Guillaume Broust (Petzl, Ozone Para gliders), Antoine Boisselier (hanggliding champion and director of Speedriding—Attack at Powpow Land, Flying Babouches, films awarded prizes at several international mountain and adventure festivals). And there are other masters of the discipline…and a few who are just amateurs.
